Green Day

Trying to think of something new to photograph and decided to focus on the colour green today.

What's Blooming

My gardens are not big, but there always seems to be something new blooming.  This week it is the Black-Eyed Susans (that name I can remember!).  Some of the flowers have had all their petals eaten by something but I was able to bring some in to enjoy.

Storm Clouds

Last Friday evening we had a couple of storms roll through our area.  The clouds were very interesting and we have never seen so much lightening.  In between downpours I went out to the park behind our house to capture the clouds.

Raspberries

I went out early this morning to water the gardens as we are in for a very hot, muggy week and noticed the raspberries are starting to ripen up.  There is nothing like fresh produce!

Just Hanging Out

This squirrel was just hanging around our deck and was still there after I retrieved my camera so I got a few shots through the glass of our sliding door.  Our dog knows that when I point my camera at the backyard there is some critter out there, making it impossible for me to open the door.

Here it looked like he was daring me to come out and photograph him.  Looking at those claws I'm glad there was a door between us!

And then this one showed up.  The squirrels stand on the adjoining fence to our neighbours and get the apples off of the tree.  Often there are partially eaten apples along the top of the fence.

Backyard Flowers

We have had our fair share of rain so far this year.  Last year I was continually watering the grass and flowers but this year I've hardly had to, for which I am grateful.  The flowers are growing so well and the grass is still green.

Busy

This squirrel has been busy building his nest high up in the tree just outside our backyard in the park.  We noticed a stack of small branches up there the other day.  And the past 2 days he has been adding all the green leaves.  It was interesting to watch him breaking off these twigs, you could actually hear them snap as he broke them with his teeth and then he grabbed them and added them to the nest.  It looks well padded and insulated now.  And then he lay on the branch for a good rest.
